There are good years, great years, and then there’s MET Fine Printers in 2024. This year wasn’t just about awards and projects — it was about growth, both in our work and in our team. Here’s a look at the highlights that prove why we’re the high-end custom print partner you didn’t know you needed.
Gold at the New York International Olive Oil Competition
Yes, the Kallas Family (founders and owners of MET Fine Printers) took home gold at the New York International Olive Oil Competition with their Kallas First Press Olive Oil. We worked with Letterbox to design award-winning custom packaging that turned heads and took top honor at the Canadian Print Awards for the Most Environmentally Progressive Packaging. We like that one!
Destination Vancouver: Celebrities, Influencers, Media…Gifts for All
Every major event in the city had one thing in common this year—custom gifts by MET. Our long-standing partnership with Destination Vancouver showcased what we do best: creating elegant, memorable pieces that leave an impression. These gifts were handed out to celebrities, performers, athletes, influencers, and media to help tell the story of Vancouver.
Hint Hint: One of them knows Vancouver very well so he got a little something special! Whoops, did I say he?
One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six Canadian Print Awards
Six wins, five honorable mentions. We don’t settle for “good enough”—we aim for unforgettable.
Our winning projects ranged from offset brochures to digital magazines to custom packaging. We celebrate this with our entire team, partners, and clients, who are dedicated to creating top-tier brand and marketing materials. Quality is paramount; fun is mandatory.
Going all in with Shift Education
Not every project is about the spotlight. We partnered with Shift Education and VML (formerly TAXI) to create custom dodgeball packaging—because when creativity meets a good cause, we’re all in.
Shift Education has a brilliant program to help teachers deliver sex education in a more real and current way than has been done in the past. VML created a genius, and super fun, campaign around the Shift Education message, and the results were incredible.
Opportunity is All Around Us, We Just Need to Open our AIs.
Networking meets next-level. Our September mixer combined a five-star dining experience with a crash course in AI, a real-time collaborative AI project, and plenty of thought-provoking conversation. Who says learning can’t come with great food and drink?
Meet the Team: New Faces Making Big Moves
This year wasn’t just about projects; it was about people. We’re thrilled to introduce six incredible new team members who have already made their mark:
- Rob Baker, Director of Operations
With nearly 30 years of print industry experience, Rob joined MET and hit the ground running. He’s transformed our operations, streamlining systems, improving efficiency, and keeping us ahead of the curve. - Aly Paterson, Senior Project Manager
Aly brings a unique mix of construction management and event management expertise to our team. She’s at the helm of our merchandise, apparel, and custom packaging division, ensuring every project is executed with precision and flair. - Jesu Kim, Estimator & Web Store Customer Service Lead
Jesu joined us as an intern through the BCIT Graphic Communications Program and quickly impressed us with her conscientiousness and delightful attitude. Now a full-time team member, she is one of our estimators. We have lots in store for her in the future, as her skills do not end with numbers. - Beshoy Hafzalla, Account Executive
Beshoy joined us after a long and successful stint in the tech world, but he wanted to connect to people in a more real and tangible way. He is a great addition to our team, with expert-level customer service skills and a creative outlook on how to help grow our business. - Louan Fernandez, Hand Bindery Assistant
Louan joined our production team as a Hand Bindery Assistant this year, and her keen eye for detail has made her a great addition to the team. - Bill Colgan, Shipper/Receiver
Bill is our comeback kid! He returned to MET after a year’s hiatus, and we are very happy to have him back.
Looking Ahead
At MET Fine Printers, we don’t just print; we craft experiences. Next year, we’re hosting events that dive deep into storytelling, colour theory, innovations in the art world and the future of print. We like to introduce our clients to each other as there are endless opportunities for collaboration all around us.
