Last fall, we invited our clients, partners, and friends to join us at MET Fine Printers for an evening of exploration, conversation, and a little creative chaos. The theme? “Opportunity Is All Around Us — We Just Need to Open Our AIs.”
Artificial Intelligence was (and still is) the topic on everyone’s mind, both exciting and a little intimidating. So, instead of talking about AI in theory, we decided to experience it together.
The Experiment: Letting AI Join the Creative Process
We welcomed AI expert Jon Lakefish of the Lakefish Group to lead the session, guiding us through the world of AI tools that are actually useful — and a few that are delightfully impractical. From voice-cloning apps to image generators and workflow automations, Jon peeled back the mystery and gave us a live look at what’s possible (and what’s coming).
But we didn’t stop there. We wanted to make something.
With the crowd tossing out wild ideas — genres, characters, taglines, visual cues — we collectively dreamed up a fictional movie called Her Dark Justice. One of our prepress wizards took the inputs, worked with an image generator, and started designing the poster live. Within minutes, the room was buzzing: screens lighting up, ideas flying, laughter spilling over.
And because we’re MET, we did what we do best — we printed it.
Before our guests left for the night, they each walked away with a beautifully printed movie poster — created, designed, and produced in a single evening.
Why We Did It
This event wasn’t just about AI. It was about curiosity.
At MET, we believe that technology and craftsmanship don’t exist on opposite ends of the creative spectrum — they complement each other. AI might generate an image, but it takes human judgment, design sensibility, and print expertise to bring it to life.
When you hold a freshly printed piece in your hands, something that didn’t exist two hours ago, you realize the real magic happens at the intersection of human creativity and technological innovation.
What's Next
The world of print is changing faster than ever, and we’re excited about it. We’ll keep exploring, experimenting, and finding new ways to merge digital intelligence with the tactile beauty of fine printing. Because at MET, we’ve always believed in pushing boundaries — whether it’s ink on paper or pixels on screen.
Opportunity really is all around us.
You just need to open your AIs.
