Profile
Metropolitan's ability to produce brilliant images that jump off the page has sealed the company's international reputation for excellence, innovation and customer service.
Metropolitan was founded in Vancouver in 1977 by President George Kallas, inspired by his fascination with emerging technology and love of colour. The company has since expanded considerably and now operates sales offices in Western Canada, across the Pacific Northwest and in Hawaii.
One of the first printers to embrace digital technology and UV stochastic printing, Metropolitan is today among a handful of printers in the world using UV with 10 micron Staccatoâ„¢ as its standard process. The company is capable of handling the full spectrum of printing projects, spanning simple brochures and promotional collateral to complex annual reports and intricate packaging.
Our clients value Metropolitan's collaborative one-on-one approach, relying on the team's knack for "what if?" solutions and ability to translate their visions into fully realized projects. Thanks to its innovative bent, Metropolitan is also regularly called upon to pilot new printing technology. As a result, clients benefit not only from unrivalled service and craftsmanship, but also from the latest industry advances.
Strong ethics and sustainability practices underscore all aspects of the family-run business, from ensuring employees are treated respectfully to operating the plant at the highest environmental standards. Metropolitan has earned top marks for its breadth of community service: each year, it supports a number of charitable organizations and events through printing in kind. And, as the founding sponsor of Canstruction Vancouver, Metropolitan has to date helped raise more than 600,000 cans of food for donation to local food banks.
