MET Benny wall expands

A big thanks to our team at MET Fine Printers for another stellar showing at the PIA Premier Print awards and even greater thanks to our clients and supporters. We have a lot of fun doing some pretty spectacular print projects and occasionally we get a little attention. We  want to spread the attention to our fantastic clients. Thanks to just a few who made this possible, Westbank Properties, Zacharcho Design Partnership, TED Conferences, Nike Inc, Ledcor, frog design and Hybrid Design SF.  See more beautiful projects in our gallery.

Sustainability is our Environment AND our Community.

March 12, 2012 scott Posted in Blog, Community, Design, Environment, News

MET Fine Printers has long held the belief that Sustainability is more than simply doing the right thing for our shared environment. It covers a wide gamut from the obvious physical efforts required in manufacturing to cut back on our carbon footprint, recycle, reuse and reclaim to how to sustain our communities.

This is the time of year we focus our collaborative efforts on our Canstruction Vancouver project founded by MET Chairman George Kallas.  A curious and creative design/build competition pitting corporate teams, schools and students together to create magical sculptures out of canned food. This is the 10th year for Vancouver and we can’t be more excited. To date we have raised 1,056,000 cans of food, the single largest injection of food (largely protein) into the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society each year.

We are supported by an amazing cast of sponsors including; FortisBC, The Vancouver Sun, CKNW98, Global TV, HSBC, Ritchie Bros. to name but a few. See our website at www.canstructionvancouver.com (powered by MET Resource by the way…) to get the full cast of characters.

Be sure to come down and support Canstruction Vancouver; anchored in the HSBC Pendulum Art Gallery 885 W. Georgia St, moving through a total of 5 venues strolling along W. Georgia St. with 20 sculptures.

Our goal is to generate as much traffic as we can in order to give the Greater Vancouver Food Bank more opportunity for on site donations. We invite you to join our Corporate Tin Cup Challenge sponsored by HSBC where your company can send a group of builders down for a lunch time challenge and great team building event. Vote for your favorite sculpture with The Vancouver SUN’s Peoples Choice Award during the event. Come and celebrate at the Ritchie Bros. Candemonium event Wednesday March 28th where we discover the winners of the local and international Canstruction award categories, bid on some spectacular auction items and enjoy a preview of the upcoming CircusWest show BlueSky.

Help us sustain our population with nourishing food and a healthy dose of philanthropy on everyone’s part. Business can do their job, or they can do them right.

MET and Opolis Design featured in Paperspec.com Take Note Awards

Premier Paper and Design website; Paperspec.com made special note of a collaboration between Nike Inc., Opolis Design of Portland, OR and MET Fine Printers of Vancouver, BC for the Finely Crafted Nike Sportswear Fleece projectTake Note award winner, Nike Sportswear book.

“I was amazed with the overall quality exhibited by all 10 finalists,” said Tim Larsen, president of Larsen (Minneapolis, MN and Menlo Park, CA) and judge for the Quarter Four competition. “But the Nike piece stood out to me because of that fabric in the front cover. Combined with the use of uncoated paper and the honest photos and illustrations, you’ve got an engaging piece of communication that captures our attention and holds out interest.”

What do you do with a Million cans of food?

February 22, 2011 scott Posted in Blog

You play with them of course! MET is the founder of Canstruction Vancouver a Global Anti-hunger awareness design/build competition that is on display at the Vancouver Convention Center Cruise Ship Terminal from February 27th until March 6th.

This year, 22 teams of graphic designers, architects, engineers, corporate teams, schools and people with a sense of adventure and philanthropy get together to build amazing scuptures with the theme of “Imagine”.

Companies such as Metropolitan Fine Printers, Kodak, PNE, Pacific Blue Cross, Terasen, Port Metro Vancouver, Coast Capital Savings, BC Hydro, Canada Place, Concert Properties and more help us generate the Greater Vancouver Food banks single largest injection of food for the year.

Join us at the cruise ship terminal and see what a million cans can do. (ok, the million cans took us 8 years to collect but we DID it!)
