VANCOUVER, BC—Metropolitan Fine Printers scored a full house at the 2006 Canadian Home Builders’ Association in BC’s Georgie Awards™, winning a coveted Georgie in the best brochure category for its spectacular “Erickson” book. This latest accolade brings Metropolitan’s 2006 award tally to over 160 awards.
Created by Identica Branding and Design, “Erickson” showcases the striking, ultra luxurious new residential property in Vancouver’s downtown core, designed by internationally renowned architect Arthur Erickson for Concord Pacific Development Inc. The handsome chocolate brown leather-bound book was produced using a number of special printing techniques that highlight Metropolitan’s singular MET UV technology, a revolutionary combination of special inks and coatings that offers previously unattainable clarity, colour vibrancy and range of finishes.
Key among the winning features of the complex 11-colour job was Metropolitan’s proprietary formula for printing metallics, which gave the images a three-dimensional perspective. Attention to detail was also paramount: the elegant debossed mirror-coated aluminum emblem on the outside cover was specially laser die-cut and embedded, while an intricate pattern on the inside back cover page was carried over to the back cover pocket, without a break in the pattern flow.
Georgie Awards™ are organized by the Canadian Home Builders Association of BC in recognition of excellence in all aspects of home building (www.chbabc.org).
Now celebrating its 30th anniversary, Metropolitan Fine Printers is recognized around the world for its winning craftsmanship and pioneering printing technology. The company is one of the few printers in the world using UV technology in combination with 10 micron Staccato®, day in and day out.
