About CANstruction® Vancouver
CANstruction®Vancouver is the local chapter of CANstruction, a global anti-hunger project, a trademarked event that has been held in over 140 cities worldwide. The art competition showcases colossal structures made entirely out of full cans of food. After the structures are built, the creations go on display to the public as a giant art exhibition at our three amazing venues; The Pendulum Gallery, The Rotunda at Pacific Center and The Four Seasons Hotel, displaying multiple sculptures based on this year’s theme “AROUND THE WORLD”. Founded by MET Fine Printers and Presented by FortisBC, all of the canned food used in the sculptures is donated to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society after display. Come see how Vancouver plays with 90,000 cans of food!
Canstruction is a registered nonprofit organization created by the Society of Design Administration. In cities around the world after the structures are built and the winners declared, the creations go on view to the general public as an art exhibition. At the close of the event, all of the food used to build the structures is donated to the local food banks for distribution to community emergency feeding programs. Since 1992, Canstruction has contributed over 17.5 million pounds of food to community food banks demonstrating that we can win the fight against hunger.
