Good energy follows people around, others recognize when something is going right and want to join the flow. There is never a real precise explanation to this but something in your gut just tells you it’s right.

Metropolitan Fine Printers is an organization with a similar vibe, even during the economic strife over the past few years, we buckled down like everyone else but didn’t complain too much. Rather our 2009 “Baby I’m Bored with all the economic doom and gloom” campaign (thank you Hangar 18 Creative) told everyone that we’re still open for business with the same positive vibe. It kept us on peoples minds, clients appreciated the attitude and stuck with us. New clients recognized the lack of desperation that was evident elsewhere. We continued to push envelopes, concentrating on what we do best and experimenting with new products and technology along the way.

Just one year ago we helped Vancouver host the biggest party ever the 2010 Winter Olympics, it seems like a distant memory only surfacing by looking at the snow capped mountains this past few weeks. Our city rolled with the changes and has found it’s groove once again.

MET was the Official Print Partner of record for the games. This was a big decision for a small group, sponsoring the Olympics is no small commitment. Turns out it came at a tough time for everyone, VANOC’s budgets were being pulled back dramatically, volumes down and everyone was chomping at the bit for a piece of the pie. We beat out our competition to be awarded this sponsorship due to our environmental print capabilities and solutions to their challenges, it cost us a lot, but we never did this to make lots of money. Our goal was to meet an entirely new group of Vancouver’s business community and future clients, very much a case of the tail wagging the dog. Only one year past, so many of the relationships we developed over just the past 2 years have blossomed into what we know will carry on for years to come.

Many of the lessons we learned through the games have enabled MET to branch out in new strategic directions. We learned a lot about dealing with big business, large events and meeting our brand promise of only the best is good enough. MET project managed the design, production and installation of the US Olympic Committee’s interior and exterior graphics, dimensional signs, large format, vinyl graphics for downtown Vancouver house, Athletes Village, Whistler and Richmond welcome centers. This was an accumulation of experience and Brand Management that has since exploded. Today, clients such as Telus, Visa and Nike have been able to experience our years of experience move from traditional lithography to multichannel Integrated Marketing Solutions. Managing the complete range of print management for POS, Large format, digital and lithographic solutions all wrapped in one brand loyal package. Continuity in Context.
